Components look to be high quality ones. The price / performance on this is amazing and I didn't see a reason to wait for AMD's Fusion.Unless you want to overcook then save your $$$ and get this one.Pros: ASUS reputation. It's run non-stop for 10 days now as I reencode my library with newer software that takes advantage of Quick Sync.I'm a long time ASUS customer (a love/hate relationship depending on which motherboard we're talking about) and an exclusive AMD customer until now. As I mentioned, there hasn't been a downside yet. I replaced a long in the tooth AMD quad core and with the i5 2500's Quick Sync my video encoding times dropped from 45 minutes to around 8 minutes (not apples to apples comparison but that's one reason I bought it).This thing is hooked to an SSD, three SATA HDs, two SATA optical drives, a UBS 3.0 portable drive, using on-board video and Windows 7 x64. Deadly quiet.Cons: Setting the boot order with six SATA devices was a little squirrelly but it looks like bios update 1204 may have resolved it.Overall Review: I decided to roll the dice and get 8GB of G.Skill memory developed for the P/H67 chipset instead of ordering off the QVL.
The system never booted with more than 1 stick/4GB of memory. Should have waited.I decided to splurge on 16GB of low voltage G.Skill DDR-3 to see what would happen editing video and sound files. Always prefered to lag behind in the technology sector while manufacturers worked the bugs out and things got a little cheaper.Overall Review: Rebuilt one of my computers that was giving me some trouble last November using a P7H57D-V EVO. I never cared for being the new kid on the block. Very few problems.Can't give it 5 eggs, just because I haven't had time to burn it in yet.Cons: Uncertainty.
Tuesday night I took apart an older XP system and installed the new motherboard, CPU and the original 16GB of G.Skill memory I bought in November. Now.Waited and ordered this 1155 board when available, pairing it with an i5-2500 K. But even with that, the full complement of module puts ASUS MEM-OK in a schizophrenic loop that won't boot. Never did get to BIOS w/ more than 4 GB of memory installed.Eventually bought some Corsair Value Select.
Maybe a power problem I should investigate further. Every once in awhile immediately after POST it resets itself and then works fine. I would expect it to be fixed in a future BIOS update. Dropped an egg b/c this is just shoddy to me. You can click the up or down arrows on the top of them to scroll, but clicking the actual bar & dragging up & down just laughs at my futile attempts. Also, the scroll bars on the windows don't actually scroll.
